First I thought of this series as a guilty pleasure, judging from the archetype illustrated cover.
After a few pages I realized it s not your typical fantasy fluff.
It has a smart, strong female lead, a solid backstory and yes, there is some romance, too.
The legends and lore used in each book to create the adventures filled with action, crime and epic fantasy are well-researched, detailled but not overeager.
Kate Daniels gives a strong, female perspective in the likes of a Pat Cadigan character.
If you compare the modern knight to any of the Philip K. Dick women, you don t want to put up with those hollow damsels in distress any longer.
As a sci-fi and cyberpunk fan who is generally bored by genre archetypes I urge you to jump onto the battle field with Kate.
This series will keep you curious and emotionally invested.
