John C. Robinson, born 1959, is a professional ornithologist, biologist, and environmental advocate who uses his scientific background to bridge the gap between nature and literature. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Fisheries and Wildlife Biology from Iowa State University in 1982. For over 30 years, he served as a biologist for major conservation agencies, including the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the USDA Forest Service. Robinson is a world-renowned speaker and professional birding guide who has led natural history tours across the globe, from South Africa to Mexico. He has also served on the board of directors for the American Birding Association. A major focus of his work is increasing diversity in the outdoors. He was named a TogetherGreen Fellow by the National Audubon Society and Toyota, a role in which he researches ways to connect minority youth and young adults to nature.
