The Burning Soul

We are, all of us, living secret lives.

Randall Haight is a killer who has done his time. Convited of murdering a fourteen-year-old girl when he was only a child himself, Randall has served his sentence, assumed a fresh identity and moved to Pastor's Bay, a small town in northern Maine, there to live a life of quiet seclusion.

Then the letters start arriving. Someone knows the truth about Randall Haight and is seeking to administer their own punishment for his crime. In desperation, Haight turns to the private investigator Charlie Parker to bring an end to his torment.

But Parker is drawn to another case in Pastor's Bay: the abduction of fourteen-year-old Anna Kore, a girl who lives not two miles away from his client.

Randall Haight is definitely a killer. The question is, of how many victims?

'He's compared to Stephen King because his tales have a touch of the supernatural - but John Connolly is a star in his own right'

'Harrowing and memorable'
