The Monster in the Box

Ten hours on an empty highway, a dying car engine, and zero cell service, what could possibly go wrong?

When a stranded driver turns down a shadowy dirt road in search of help, he stumbles upon a eccentric old man living in a bizarre underground bunker. The rules are strict: No going outside after dark. The reason? The old man catches monsters for a living, and he keeps them locked in hidden boxes beneath the floorboards.

Driven by curiosity, and the sneaking suspicion that the old man might actually be holding human prisoners, our hero opens the underground trapdoor. What he finds in the dark is beyond his wildest nightmares: three massive, seven-foot-tall fur-covered beasts with razor-sharp fangs.

As the creatures break free, a frantic, heart-pounding chase ensues through dim concrete corridors, across the moonlit ranch, and down the desert highway. But as the largest monster finally corners him, the night takes a hilarious, unforgettable turn.

The Monster in the Box by H. Jason Schulz is a spooky, fast-paced middle-grade read that perfectly blends hair-raising suspense with laugh-out-loud humor. Ideal for young readers who love spooky stories, eccentric characters, and twists they'll never see coming!
