The Magician s Nephew, C.S. Lewis A wonderful beginning to The Chronicles of Narnia . The Magician s Nephew by C.S. Lewis is the first of seven books about the mysterious world Narnia . The whole adventures begins when Digory and Polly get a magical ring from Digory s crazy uncle Andrew. This is the reason why the two kids come into a deplorable world. In this world they awake the evil queen Jadis who follows them back to London. Now Digory and Polly try to bring the queen back to her world but they land in the wrong world. This world is called Narnia and there they meet the lion Aslan. Aslan is something like a god and he creates Narnia with all it s curious things like speaking animals. The main characters are the two children Digory and Polly, they are best friends. For Digory it is very important to find a way to help his ill mother. In Narnia he gets an apple from Aslan and when Digory offers the apple to his mother and she has eaten it she is miraculously cured. Digory plants the apple core and the magic rings in his backyard. This is the basic to the following story s about Narnia. The book is easy to read and the story is not very complex but this doesn t let the story get boring in contrary C.S. Lewis describes the setting and the characters in detail and lovely. For example you can really imagine the creation of Narnia by the description of C.S. Lewis. The message of this book you can find within the paralyses to the Christian creation and the role of Aslan as a creator. I give the book five stars out of five, because it is a wonderful and very fantastical story and it makes fun to read about the imaginative world Narnia. I think it is the best imaginative book I have ever read and it is not only for young but also for old people very interesting to read.
