Mr. Hedges and His Wonderful Song

IT'S ABOUT: Gerry Stone and his elderly, eccentric friend, Stanley W. Hedges are on the lam. The FBI thinks Mr. Hedges has kidnapped Gerry. There's even a reward for Gerry's safe return.



IT'S ABOUT: the young woman they meet--"the most beautiiful girl in the world"--to Gerry's twelve- year -old eyes. Mr. Hedges is in love with her, too. But who is she, really? She calls herself by a half-dozen different names; she makes herself into a different person for everybody she meets. And Gerry worries: does she really just want the reward? Will she turn them in to the cops? Who is she, anway?



IT'S ABOUT: the song Mr. Hedges writes--"the most wonder- ful song anybody ever heard." Does that mean their troubles are over? Hell, no.



IT'S REALLY ABOUT a boy growing up and learning about people and the world.
