Nació en Bogotá, Colombia, ciudad en la que vive. Estudió Derecho y Arte, y se graduó con una tesis sobre derecho romano e ilustraciones. Ha escrito e ilustrado más de una decena de libros, algunos publicados originalmente en inglés. Fue finalista del premio A la Orilla del Viento de Libro Ilustrado. Ganó, entre otros, el premio de la Conferencia Anual de la Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, en Nueva York en 2002 y 2003.
