Lucinda and the Talking Monkey

Lucinda is an adventurous 8-year-old girl living on the island of Puerto Rico with her hardworking father and her wise, loving Abuela. One day, while her father is away at work, she discovers a mischievous talking monkey named Marlin who has an injured ankle.

Marlin, a rhesus monkey who speaks eight languages, was left behind by his sea-captain owner and is now trying to make Puerto Rico his home. Together, Lucinda and Marlin embark on a courageous adventure to recover her father's racehorses after they are stolen by a group of treacherous horse thieves. Through their journey, Lucinda demonstrates her passion for helping animals and eventually earns her father's respect as a "horse whisperer". The story concludes with Lucinda and her father growing closer, while Marlin finds his true home on Cayo Santiago, the "Island of Monkeys".
