JAVIER Y. ÁLVAREZ VÁZQUEZ (*1977) is a German-Puerto Rican philosopher and humanist, as well as an associate professor (PD) of philosophy and anthropology at the University of Leipzig. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities and Philosophy from the University of Puerto Rico (USA), a Magister Artium in Philosophy and Religious Studies from Heidelberg University (Germany), a Ph.D. in Philosophy and Phenomenology from the University of Freiburg i. Br., and a Higher Ph.D. in Anthropology of Knowledge and Philosophy of Science from the University of Leipzig. He has also taught philosophy at both the University of Heidelberg and the University of Puerto Rico.
Among his academic works, his book "How? Enarrativity and the Cognition of Explicative Thinking: A Theory of Constructive Reasoning" (2022) stands out, and among his writings on social analysis, the essay collection "Vernichtungslage - Das Ende der Pandemie: Ethisch-philosophische Probleme der Corona-Krise" (2023) excels, where he addresses the ethical and social implications of the political measures imposed in Germany during the coronavirus crisis.
