Edna Lyall (1857-1903) was the pen name of Ada Ellen Bayly, an English novelist born in Brighton. She wrote about religious doubt, Irish home rule and women's suffrage, gave much of her income away, and was popular enough that Gladstone read her aloud. Her works include Donovan, We Two, In Spite of All, and Knight-Errant.
