"Nobody sat me down and told me."
That's what almost every young man says when Harry C. Robinson II asks him a simple question: What's your definition of a man? Most men learned by watching a father, a coach, or a screen. No one taught them, and no one checked whether what they picked up was ever true.
A Man Who CARES was written to close that gap. Drawing on years as a pastoral counselor and mentor, more than twenty years leading the same Friday-morning men's group, and his own unfinished journey, Harry walks a man through three movements:
BECOME a man who CARES: Courage, Action, Responsibility, Endurance, and Submission. This is the character God builds in a man others can count on.
BELONG to a TEAM: Trained, Encouraged, Affirmed, and sent on Mission. No man grows up alone, and here you'll see what the men around you are meant to do for you, and what you're meant to do for them.
BUILD through the WORK God entrusts to you: Willingness, Obedience, Resilience, and Keeping. This is what it takes to carry a calling faithfully through setbacks and long seasons.
Each chapter is grounded in Scripture and in real stories: a father's driving lessons, a hard choice on a high school bus, a coach who told the truth, and a layoff that turned into a call to ministry. Every chapter ends with reflection questions, a practical exercise with room to write, and a prayer. Read it on your own, work through it with a mentor, or take a men's group through it together.
This book is for two men. One is the young man still working out what he's supposed to become. The other is the father, grandfather, pastor, coach, or mentor willing to walk beside him.
Become the man. Belong to the TEAM. Build through the WORK. Then turn around and walk the next man forward.
