Nature, Properties and Laws of Wealth is a maiden attempt to study wealth the same way a chemist studies matter. The book discusses in detail the general laws of wealth: the Law of Conservation, the Law of Equilibrium and the Law of Mass Action. The general property that wealth moves from higher concentration to lower concentration is explained with many real-world examples. Like matter and energy, wealth can neither be created nor be destroyed but can be changed from one form to another. Reactions involving this change in wealth are termed "economic reactions." All economic reactions are reversible in nature, which is why there ought to be a credit of equal amount for every debit. By adopting the methods of chemists to speed up chemical reactions, one can speed up economic reactions.

Sri B.V. Gopinath received his M.S. in Agriculture with specialization in Soil Science. He worked as an instructor of Soil Science in the Department of Chemistry and Soils at the College of Agriculture, Dharwad from 1977 to 1980. He joined Syndicate Bank as the Rural Development Officer in 1980. He pursued his studies and became Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers. Though he is a banker by profession with 28 years experience, his true love is teaching. This is his second book; his first book is titled Economic Reactions (2003, Vadiraj Rao Publications, Gulbarga).
Though economics is essentially the study of wealth no one so far has made any attempt to study its nature, properties, laws and classification. Whether there is a need for studying the nature and properties of wealth and to classify different forms of wealth is a matter of debate but the author makes a bold attempt by defying the conservative barriers that the traditional economists hold in devotional esteem. He accuses economists of concentrating only on application of wealth without going into the fundamentals of wealth such as its properties, nature, the laws governing it and its classification He seeks to give a spiritual and divine touch to his findings. He brings in human soul on par with matter, energy and wealth. According to him all four withstand Law of Conservation and Law of Equilibrium, which the author contends as Divine Laws. He says It will be good news if this Law of Conservation is true, the living world and the world of resources never see an end. There will be life and there will be resources of energy and matter for millions of years to come. There is no need to panic. How nice if the future could hold his words as prophecy. -- Shrinivas Sirnoor, Senior Reporter, Deccan Herald Daily Gulbarga, India Though economics is essentially the study of wealth no one so far has made any attempt to study its nature, properties, laws and classification.
